The weekend has come and gone. The NFL has “graced” us with another Sunday of sport and…A lot of it was jut not ideal.
Sure, we had the spectacular matchup between Buffalo and Minnesota, which I accurately predicted…cough cough not a genius cough…
But other games were just downright dreadful.
For instance, Denver and Tennessee. The Titans have arguably the best running back in the league. How did he do on Sunday? 19 carries. 53 yards. You can add on the 14 he had in the passing game if you’d like, he still didn’t reach the endzone. This is the same Derrick Henry that ran for 220 yards and 2 scores against Houston. And 115/2 TDs against KC. Denver is somewhere in the middle, hell even CLOSER to Houston. What gives?
The Titans frustrate me. They are a playoff team, mainly because everyone else in that division is atrocious. Indianapolis, misguided and somehow beating teams like the Raiders. (More on them in a moment). The Jaguars, who are better than they were last year but it’s hard to be much worse than last season, and the aforementioned Houston Texans. Anyone know the record for most consecutive home playoff loses? Could be a race between Green Bay and Tennessee.
Speaking of Green Bay, they finally won again. It was the first time the team had lost 5 in a row in decades, and their worst start since 2008. Aaron Rodgers is…a grumpy old man. Constantly shouting on the sidelines, weathered face, etc. The Pat McAfee Appearances don't help
So what helped him sling it Sunday? He played a much better game, against a much better defense, and his old coach. Could Rodgers be playing down to opponents, or vice versa? That’s the sign of aging in the NFL. I use Ben Roethlisberger as the example. When he played the top talent in the league, he was steady, confident, a gunslinger. Line him up against the Jaguars? Woof.
Aaron has solidified himself as a “Heel” in the NFL. (HEEL: Wrestling term for bad guy. See; Ric Flair/Hollywood Hogan/etc). Fans of the game can appreciate greatness, but he’s starting to get more jeers than cheers. But that’s ok. Sports are better with the bad guys.
Vegas. COME ON. There was no WAY you could lose to a guy who showed up Wednesday as the head coach of a team, who did little to no prep, coming straight from an ESPN show, with a witherd old husk at QB. No way you lose this game.
You lost. Again.
I guess Jeff Saturday did call his shot.
That game hurt my soul. I need a palette cleanser. Im going to go wash off the stench with the 49er highlights and wash it down with that fantastic Justin Jefferson catch.
How about dem Redskins, er dem Commanders last night? It's hard to stay undefeated.
